The Necks – masters of their own musical language
Over the thirty years of their existence, The Necks have built an
international reputation as masters of their own musical language. They have
collaborated with artists such as: Brian Eno, Swans, Evan Parker, Karl Hyde and
several symphony orchestras. They toured Australia 6 years ago as the
opening act for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, and in 2019 they collaborated
with Underworld on their new audio-visual series, as well as with Michael Gira
on the new Swans album.
They have been touring Europe for over 20 years. Every Necks’
performance is a singular event, entirely improvised and working with the
acoustics of the room. Their minimalist, repetitive improvisation with piano,
drums and bass sounds as if it comes from a single unknown instrument.
