Europe's greatest jazz trumpet player with his new album

Erik Truffaz, a top European jazz musician, returns to Prague after 3 years with a new programme for his just released album Rollin'. Truffaz has recorded nearly 20 albums and has made a name for himself all over the world. „Jazz with juice and soul, and lots of open space,“ wrote Rolling Stone about him. „Intelligent, uncompromising contemporary music played by virtuoso players with a wealth of imagination and courage,“ said JazzTimes magazine.

Born in 1960, Truffaz sang rock and roll with his first band at the age of thirteen and discovered Miles Davis and his timeless album Kind of Blue. At the Geneva Conservatory he played the music of Mozart and Verdi, formed the band Orange in 1990 and a year later won the prestigious French jazz prize Prix Special. In 1994 he released his first album under his own name and performed at one of Europe's most important jazz festivals in Montreux. He was signed by EMI France, and in 2000 he broke through to American audiences, where his recordings are released by the legendary jazz label Blue Note. Critics have compared Truffaz not only to jazz genius Miles Davis, but also to ambient pioneer Brian Eno: „using a minimum of notes to create an ecstatic sonic atmosphere,“ says Rolling Stone magazine.
