Banned From Utopia (a reference to Frank Zappa’s album The Man From Utopia) is one of the post-Zappa “revival” projects featuring some of his former collaborators. The main figures here are vocalist and guitarist Ray White (with Zappa from 1976–1984) and keyboardist/vocalist Nick Chargin (Stinkfoot Orchestra). The current lineup is rounded out by drummer Chad Wackerman (Zappa 1981–1988), bassist Scott Thunes (Zappa 1981–1988), and guitarists Robbie Mangano (Grandmothers of Invention) and Jamie Kime (Zappa Plays Zappa 2007–2012).
