This year, we launched a project to export local bands abroad in collaboration with several partners. The target cities include Bucharest, Cluj, Warsaw, Lublin, Paris, and Tel Aviv. Pavel Zlámal PQ will perform in Tel Aviv twice – first in a club concert and then as part of a benefit concert for war victims. In the meantime, they will also manage to perform at a concert in Jerusalem. A total of three concerts in the Middle East.

Pavel Zlámal PQ

A formation of progressive jazz musicians now scattered across various corners of the Czech Republic and Europe (Brno, Prague, Helsinki, Vienna), originally formed within the dynamic environment of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Their distinctive original repertoire, straightforward and energetic interpretation, and intense musical expression are reminiscent of inspirations such as The Bad Plus or John Zorn. In 2018, they released their debut album titled Tyče nevyhnutelné (Championship Music), which earned them 3rd place in the Czech Radio Jazz poll „Česká Jazzová sklizeň 2018“. The debut album features compositions by the group's leader, Pavel Zlámal, placing the recording primarily in the realm of contemporary modern jazz. Certain inevitable overlaps beyond this framework point to Zlámal's unbridled approach to creation, which in fact also represents his life credo. The band released their second album (a double album) Anchors & Hearts at the end of 2020 with the label Ma Records.

Band Members:

Pavel Zlámal – tenor saxophone / leader Martin Konvička – piano Juraj Valenčík – double bass Martin Kleibl – drums

The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture, the National Regeneration Plan and the European Union – Next Generation EU.
