info
The one-day festival IBERIAN WAVES will take place on May 22 at Palác Akropolis from 6:30 PM, riding the waves and ripples of contemporary Iberian music.

The event will be held across four stages at Palác Akropolis. Exceptionally for this occasion, an additional stage will be opened, allowing audiences to enjoy one of the concerts from outside. Inside Akropolis, you will not only find a rich musical lineup but also freshly baked traditional Portuguese pastries, Spanish paella, and excellent wine.

We will introduce you to new musical discoveries from the Iberian Peninsula, whose music scene is among the most dynamic in the contemporary European context. You will hear songs in Basque, Galician, Spanish, Catalan, and Portuguese.

Verde Prato

A music project by Spanish artist Ana Arsuaga from Tolosa, Basque Country. She blends traditional Basque folk songs with modern electronic elements, creating a style she calls “21st-century Basque folklore”. Her debut album, Kondaira Eder Hura, embodies this creative fusion of Basque folk music and electronic sounds. In 2022, she released the single Jaikiera, continuing in this musical direction. Verde Prato is known for her energetic live performances, often accompanied by synthesizers and drum machines. In 2023, she released the EP Euskal Pop Erradikala, featuring covers of Basque songs from the 1980s.

Yeli Yeli & Álvaro Romero

A collaboration between Spanish flamenco singer Álvaro Romero and Portuguese electronic music producer Pedro da Linh. This project fuses traditional flamenco elements with modern electronic music, creating a unique cultural blend. Their music also incorporates traditional Roma influences, and their name, Yeli Yeli, refers to a traditional Roma ritual related to verifying a bride’s virginity. They debuted at the Seville Flamenco Biennale in 2022 and later released their first album, Jamón, Romero y Chocolate, which gained widespread attention for its innovative approach to flamenco and rhythmic diversity.

ABRIL

A Galician folk duo from Vigo, consisting of Claudia Abril (vocals, percussion) and Marina Carpente (violin, vocals). Representing traditional folk music from Galicia and Iberia, they will open the evening on the outdoor stage, where the audience can also enjoy their performance from outside.

Adelaida

A Catalan singer, producer, and composer, who released her second album, Muérdago, in July 2024. Her music moves between choral ambient and dark baroque electronics, creating a soundscape full of emotions—from sadness to joy and longing. Her distinctive voice is at the core of her performance, complemented by experimental and avant-garde sounds. Muérdago was created during her stay in a Victorian house in London, which influenced the overall atmosphere of the recordings. Adelaida enjoys blending different languages, aesthetics, and emotions that evolve over time.

Niikology

Born Niiko, this Lisbon-based Angolan rapper and producer blends neo-soul, R&B, trap, and hip-hop in his music. His storytelling rap and eclectic singing define his unique sound. Some of his most notable tracks include “Não Importa”, “Saber Perder”, and “Nem Tanto do Puto Dji”, a response to a diss track by Dji Tafinha.

SFISTIKATED

A Portuguese electronic duo, formed by Roberto Oliveira and João Marquese. In February 2024, they released the album Perpetual Motion, featuring tracks such as “Chrysalis” (feat. Tenant), “Ordinary Space” (feat. Muc and Justin Christopher), “Neo Love” (feat. LEFT.), “In The Middle” (feat. Rezar), “Paralyze”, and “Energy” (feat. Teddy Trillion and Muc). Expect a fusion of electronic music, glitch sounds, and hip-hop—an uncompromising Portuguese party at Akropolis.

Sónia Trópicos

A Portuguese DJ, musician, designer, and illustrator. In 2021, she won the PULSAR competition, which led to the release of her debut EP, Astral Anormal. She followed it up with a second EP, Singela, in 2023, under the Cosmic Burger label. Her music draws inspiration from baile funk, lo-fi, and hip-hop, and she is influenced by artists like M.I.A., Princess Nokia, and FKA twigs.

The Iberian Waves festival is supported by Instituto Cervantes, Camões – Portuguese Centre in Prague, and Liveurope.

Liveurope is the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in promoting emerging European artists. The Liveurope project is co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.
