info The voice of contemporary West African art and a Slovak band with international reach on one stage? Palác Akropolis will be pulsing with Tolstoys and Alibeta. Tolstoys are the first Slovak band to perform at the legendary Glastonbury Festival. Their concerts are captivating yet gentle — full of human warmth that brings people together, breaks down barriers, and creates a safe space where everyone can feel accepted and free. In May, they released their fourth studio album The Buzz, which captures exactly this vibrant energy. With the album, they’re touring Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the UK — where they’ll perform at Glastonbury for the second time. Come and share a safe space in the middle of the storm of the present. Alibeta from Senegal is a dear friend, teacher, and collaborator of Tolstoys. He is a curator and multidisciplinary artist. He moves across diverse sonic and visual worlds — from Afro-jazz and the songs of the Serer people to Afro-roots and Mandingo chants. He draws on the most authentic West African heritage, humbly singing the words of Dogon masters whose cosmology fascinates him. His curatorial practice is based on discovering local cultural narratives that shape our ways of living together and explores questions of community relations. The PULZ series at Palác Akropolis is curated by music journalist and presenter Vojtěch Tkáč. The evening will take place in collaboration with Akropolis Underground. |
