Piano Day, or International Piano Day, is a worldwide event celebrating the piano, founded a few years ago by a group of artists and producers led by pianist Nils Frahm. Renowned Swedish/Danish composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist Henrik Lindstrand brings his evocative solo work to Prague for the first time. Best known for his minimalistic, emotionally rich piano compositions, Lindstrand launched his solo career in 2017 with Leken. This debut marked the beginning of a celebrated trilogy that includes Nattresan and Nordhem, described as “melancholy storytelling that rides the waves of sorrow and joy” (Headphone Commute). Lindstrand is also known as a member of the iconic Danish rock band Kashmir, a score composer for a string of Scandinavian film and TV-series , and for creating the award winning music for computer game Builder´s Journey in 2020. Lindstrand’s latest works explore a broader sonic landscape. His 2023 album Klangland featured a Berlin string ensemble, earning acclaim during concerts across Scandinavia and Germany, culminating at the prestigious Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. His new EP, Last Child in the Woods (2024), continues this tradition, blending piano with synths, strings, and woodwinds. Inspired by Nordic nature, it delivers a meditative yet melodic soundscape, promising a serene and immersive listening experience. For this concert, Henrik Lindstrand will perform with Swedish bass player Thommy Andersson.
