Iberian Waves is a festival organised by Palác Akropolis in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes and the Camões Institute in Prague. Its aim is to introduce Czech audiences to the wide musical diversity of the Iberian regions. After two successful editions, the festival presents a new selection of artists whose work ranges from traditional folk to electronic music, infused with the sounds and influences of specific regions. Los Sara Fontan is an experimental duo from Barcelona formed by violinist Sara Fontán and percussionist Edi Pou. Their music combines contemporary composition, improvisation and electronics, unfolding into powerful, constantly evolving soundscapes. Each performance is created in the moment, moving beyond traditional song forms.

Fillas de Cassandra is a contemporary Galician duo reimagining traditional songs through a modern lens. Rooted in ancestral melodies and oral traditions, their music blends piano, percussion, electronics and layered vocals. With a strong feminist perspective, the duo bridges past and present, bringing Galician heritage into a vibrant contemporary context.

Amorante is the musical project of Basque multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Iban Urizar. Drawing from Basque folk traditions while embracing experimentation and improvisation, his music combines acoustic instruments and electronics into poetic, intimate performances shaped by deep cultural roots.

Musgö is a Spanish harpist, singer and electronic composer from Andalusia. Blending harp, voice and subtle electronics, she creates immersive soundscapes inspired by folk and pop traditions. Her live performances move between intimacy and experimentation, establishing her as a distinctive voice on the contemporary European scene.

Nayr Faquirá is a Portugal singer with Mozambican roots, who has established a strong presence on the music scene over the past decade. Her work blends cultural roots with a contemporary sound marked by emotional depth and authenticity. Her debut album Entrelinhas (2025) reveals a mature and deeply personal artistic identity moving between soul and afrobeats. Nayr has released two EPs and collaborated with key figures of Lusophone music, including Selma Uamusse and Valete. A major milestone in her career was composing Quem Tu És, the opening theme of the iconic TV series Morangos com Açúcar.

Meta_ (Mariana Braga) is a Portuguese singer, songwriter and producer from the Trás-os-Montes region. In her work she combines voice, field recordings and electronics, drawing inspiration from traditional vocal practices and folk music. Her debut album “XIV – A Integração” (Shika Shika, 2023) premiered at Primavera Sound Porto and received a four-star review in Songlines magazine. Meta_ has performed at festivals such as NOS Alive, Bons Sons, Rio Loco and Urkult, as well as at venues including Kino Šiška in Ljubljana and Močvara in Zagreb. She has collaborated with producers Xinobi and DJEFF and is also part of Xinobi’s live band.

The evening will close with a tarabela DJ set. Another alter ego of musician Mariana Braga will fill Akropolis with an eclectic musical mix connecting electronic music with rhythms and vocal motifs from different parts of the world. She describes the genre herself as world folktronica music.
