info The French band Nouvelle Vague returns to Prague as part of their 20th-anniversary concert tour. Nouvelle Vague became famous for their unique cover versions of punk and post-punk „new wave“ tracks – or in French, „nouvelle vague.“ With acoustic guitars, percussion, velvety voices, and bossa-nova-inspired arrangements, they elevated post-punk songs to a new level, redefining the concept of a „cover band“ and quickly becoming a global phenomenon. Twenty years ago, Nouvelle Vague released their debut album, featuring covers of hits like „Love Will Tear Us Apart,“ „Just Can’t Get Enough,“ and „Too Drunk to Fuck.“ Their music has appeared in numerous series, films (such as A Mighty Heart with Angelina Jolie and Tarantino's Death Proof), and advertisements (including for Tropicana, Reserved, Vicks, Dove, and T-Mobile). Founders Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux (†2021) built the band around skilled musicians, led by the distinct voices of singers who define Nouvelle Vague's sound (Mélanie Pain, Phoebe Kildeer, Nadeah Miranda, Elodie Frégé, Sophie Delila, Marina Celeste, Karina Zeviani, Siljia, Eloisia, Anais Croze, Camille Dalmais, and others). A well-coordinated band, positive energy, and complete harmony between the stage and the audience, along with alternating pure acoustic songs and punk anthems, make their concerts an unforgettable show. At the anniversary concerts, they’ll perform timeless hits alongside songs from their newly released album Should I Stay or Should I Go (2024). |
