CARTON CLAN: REMIX

“When we prepare posters for Palác Akropolis we have to take into account the requirements that the visual must fulfil and our work is thus always a bit of a compromise. The Remix exhibit is a look into the utopian paradise of graphic design. We selected concerts from the Euroconnections series and conveyed their visuals in uncompromising new forms, regardless of the demands of promotion, the taste and intention of promoters, the demands and requirements of the exhibiting artists; we ignored the logos of bands and partners. All with one aim: sparring, minimalist elements that reflect the music the posters advertise.” The graphics studio Carton Clan signs all of its work collectively and thus somewhat anonymously. Five heads, fourteen legs, six monitors and the best jukebox on the street jointly design books, posters, magazines, album covers and logos. In addition to Palác Akropolis, the Centre for Contemporary Art DOX, the publishing house Paseka, the design shop Futurista Universum, the club Fléda, the labels Silver Rocket and Starcastic, the organisations Life Support and Dlouhá cesta, the magazine Full Moon and many others bet on Carton Clan. /…artonclan.cz
