info The well-known Czech painter, who lives alternately in Prague and in the Peruvian jungle, is inspired in his work by the Amazonian forest and native traditions. At Palác Akropolis he presented sketches from the project Amazeon – a raft in the river, which would have served as a cultural center where native art mixes with the contemporary. „The water's surface, on which I project, I chose for reasons practical (protection, security), aesthetic (flotation, reflection of heaven) and symbolic (myth of an underwater world)“ the author says of Amazeon. The raft's form is inspired by the ritual space for Shaman ceremonies and is enriched by the fantasies of the artist, functionality and space for various activities. Otto Placht perceives Amazeon as the countryside ingrown with spontaneously originating architecture; a mobile object, a fluid installation and a back-lit image all at the same time. |
