info Jan Kloss aka Zerwox da visual poet aka Lil’ Zé 5th year student of the studio of graphic design and visual communication at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. Interests: applied graphics, design, photography, music (DJ, half of the KaosBros project)… He is mainly focused on the creation of corporate styles, designing magazines, advertising campaigns, music packaging and his own projects or, for that matter, anything where he feels that his creation could be a contribution or even something enriching. Recently he has collaborated with Jakub Korouš under the collective heading of sensu.cz (for ex: botas66, Kundo records, Meanbucket, and many others). Together they were awarded first place in the international competition European Design Awards 2008, the prize of the Department of Graphic Design for the summer semester 2008 at Prague’s VŠUP and third place at the prestigious competition Czech Grand Design 2008 in the category Creator of the Year for collaboration with the Botas company. The title of the exhibition, “I’ll kill y’all”, comes from the natural need of the majority of producing people to shine through. No matter if it is in reference to free or applied art or perhaps musical creation (it is especially striking in rap music), it is the need of others in the field to “kill” his achievement and thus stun the relevant public. But sometimes with each award, and yearning for the limelight is often so strong, that the energy expended on it exceeds, and is even embedded in the very work. This self-assertion for the exhibition of Jan Kloss appears so foreign, that he rather uses the time for creation and for waiting until fate finds him alone. Thanks this time belong foremost to K. Haloun and L. Kubík (or if you like, AGalerie at Palác Akropolis) for their interest and the opportunity to present several works, perhaps at least a bit specialized on culture. Contribution to the exhibitions: Bienále grafického design Brno/Biennale of graphic design Brno (Brno, 2006) Design na hrad! (Bítov castle, 2006) Dialogy/Dialogues (London College of Communication, 2007) Divadlo Archa (Prague, 2007) Létem světem (Novodvorská Plaza Prague, 2008) Design Supermarket (Prague, 2008) Czech Grand Design (Museum of Decorative Arts Prague, 2008) Mocný Stark (Trafo Gallery Prague, 2009) Samples of his work have appeared, for example, in the magazines Typografia, Typo, Proč ne?! and Free magazine, in books such as Work!, Search design! and the ED–Awards 2008 catalogue. Several of his contributions have been published by Revolver Revue and he remains a contributor to the server phatbeatz.cz. www.zerwox.com / www.sensu.cz / www.kaosbros.com |
