L’homme canon / The Human Cannonball

Originally, the human cannonball was a fairground attraction in which a man — firmly strapped in, properly shoed and wearing a helmet — was launched from an unusual cannon. This image became the source of inspiration for Rémi Luchez.

There are two of them.

He is the projectile, using the full weight of his body to trace a heroic arc.

Somewhere, she sings — and he hovers.

Both of them, fully aware of the poetic and kamikaze nature of their act, let themselves be consumed and then disappear.

L’Homme Canon is about the vertigo of height, about intoxication through simplicity, and the joy born from restraint.

“Among the pioneers of minimalist circus is tightrope walker Rémi Luchez, who masters the discipline of endless symbolism. Alongside solo performer Lola Calvet, he reaches a certain degree of perfection in the economy of gesture and prop, capturing their very essence.” — Théâtre(s) Magazine

“Part tender adventurer of fragile balance, part eccentric, ruffled bird, circus artist Rémi Luchez leads us into dangerous and comical situations, playfully defying the laws of gravity.” — sceneweb.fr
